To Our God: Alan.
A tribute to our beloved classmate:
Sadly, much to our surprise, our dear friend, Alan Sim a.k.a. Ah Sim, a.k.a A Lan has left our class on the 16th of August. Time was not kind to him, and before he knew it, there was not much time left. He made a difficult decision: To withdraw from the GCE O Levels Examination. Although our time with him was short, his accomplishments were beyond that of any other, and has deeply touched our hearts. Let me take you on a memory trail or for those who are not from our class, a journey of pride and joy.
Year 2004:
As most of us remember, Alan was in the class 2E4. And in that class, there was a boy by the name of Ong Kwee Peng. Our cause were clear and just: To eradicate the monstrosity that is OKP. To lead such a cause, there was only one person capable. That man was Alan. Near the end of the year, a final crusade was lead by him to finally destroy OKP. The fight was started by OKP who wanted to assault Mrs. Helen Chong with bombardments of pointless questions. Being a righteous man that Alan is, he tried to save Mrs. Helen Chong by stopping OKP. Against all odds, he was able to prevent OKP from reaching her. OKP, unable to accomplish his mission, was angered. He used all his might, which was futile, to scratch Alan's arm. Even the usually kind and passive Alan could not take this. It was the last straw. Alan tried to reasoned it out with OKP, but instead OKP blamed Alan for interrupting him. Alan could not take this insult and prepared a full scale attack. He grabbed OKP by the rear and with all his might, he thrusted at his bottom with a forceful kick. The kick was so powerful that it sent OKP flying across the room and onto a wall. OKP let out a loud shriek as his flame of life was almost snuffed out. OKP was not willing to lose, with his fist clenched. The merciful Alan decided to spare his life saying,"It's over, Sri Lanka Crab." Unable to continue, OKP gave up and Alan was deemed the Hero of the year.
Year 2005
At the start of the year, with his efforts recognized, Alan was appointed the vice chairman of the class 3E3. For his debut accomplishment of the year, even before the 1st month ended, Alan, together with that year's chairman Alex, lost the evil scripture known as the "Discipline Book". Such an act was beneficial to our cause and for that we were very grateful him. For his 2nd act, he was able to topple our Emaths teacher, Mrs Loo. Even though she deemed that act to be disrespectful to her, we all know that it was for our good and deeply thanked him. After a couple of months, the "Discipline Book" was replaced to continue it's reign of evil and chaos. He immediately disposed of that book to prevent it from causing any harm. Soon after, that book had returned. Knowing that getting rid of that book would only result in it's return, Alan decided to sabotage the book, crippling it, instead of letting it return with full power. This selfless act truly deserves our respect. Another courageous act of his must be mentioned and recognized. It was an ordinary day in school during the E.math lesson. The teacher who was in charge of us was an egg-headed freak ,with a gu niang look, who gave esoteric teaching which does not interest us at all. As usual, the war between Alan and Ka Ming never cease. Both of them brought chaos to the seemed-so-peaceful class. Since Alan knew that physical abuse on the close to invulnerable Ka Ming was useless, he thought of a perfect plan which will bring Ka Ming, and even himself, to an end. Alan burst out in spontaneous anger and took out the discipline book ,which is in his possession, and begin to write something which was brought to everyone's amazement. He began to write Ka Ming's offence and forged our old yet useful, Mr Aw's signature. Consequences of this act would not stop Alan from venturing. There was nothing in the ability of that idiotic teacher that could deter the situation. Everyone thought that his flawless plan would go unnoticed. However, we were all astonished after we dawned that he was caught. Unfortunately, this offence got his vice-chairman title stripped. With this, he marked the end of the year's accomplishments.
Year 2006(Current)
With a new year marks a new beginning. Even though Alan's title of Vice Chairman had been lost due to a series of unfortunate events, his reign did not end. He was still the God in our hearts, a man of man, or even beyond. One such example of his motivative actions happened during the North Vista Secondary School Mid Year Examinations. During the history paper, out of everyone's imagination, Alan left the whole paper blank. Yes, blank. Nothing was written on the paper, not even his name until Mrs. Chia told him to at least write his name. That was the ultimate boost to our morale in the times of examination and tests. Striking courage into our hearts, he led countless campaigns of ignoring results.
Though he was forced to leave our class, Alan has never left our hearts. Forever, will our hearts be imprinted with the image of such a man, a man of no fear and unbelievable talents. With that, Alan has be recognized as an ally of oNty for the eternity that has yet to come. We hope that everyone that is reading this article, to put aside all differences, stand together, and give Alan our best wishes for his next year.
To the God in our hearts, Alan: 2007 BANZAI!
